Korvapuusteja, bdays and strikes

I found all the ingredients for the korvapuusti (cinnamonroll)! It was hard to find cardamon but from the market i did! It was another miracle that I was able to succeed with my bakery since it was first time I was using gas oven and I didn't have rolling pin but the korvapuusti came out pretty nice... I bought baking soda instead of yeast but it still came out nice...  I brought them at work ans everybody liked them! Jeij! I gave one for my neighbour too and he liked it too!

Last night my neighbour took me to his cousin birthday party in Moule. It was interesting, I danced with one guy for one minute and then everybody just pulling my arms and asking me to dance with them.. bit intimidating.. the rest of the night I just stayed next my neighbour..

Now the strike of the gas station is finally began... and of course the prime minister is visiting the island at the same time so everything to do with cars in f*cked up.... I don't know how we gona arrange the party tomorrow if we don't have a gas and is anyone gona even show up... We'll see..

I miss my friends a lot!!!!!!!!!! buuhuuuu!! I just wanna have someone who understand me, so that the normal conversation won't take an hour....

One thing which irritates me here a lot is that people here don't let u know if the plans are changed or they not coming or something happend... Not even at work... For me it is super weird and I find it really impolite.

But yeah some pictures!!

First Picture: Korvapuustit! Yeah they look ugly I know! But they taste right!

Second Picture: Cardamon that is how it looks like! It takes surprisingly long time to unpeel those..

Third Picture: Quenette... Love those.. Kind a like lychee.

Food, water and weird people...

First of all I was just told that there is no water until thursday..... It is really nice to know 4 hours before they cut the water.... and I washed my hair last time on sunday...

The other happier thing is that I was buying ingredients for Korvapuusti (kind a cinnamonrolls) yesterday and I found everything but cardamom! I gona try to find that today from this bigger grocery shop.

Sandra has disappeared.. she hasn't been coming to work for two days now.. nobody knows where is she...

I just read from one add that we have dengue epidemic in Gwada.. jeij..

Today we have got the weirdest customers coming here and calling.. One guy came here and started to yell that he wants his money back from one event we didn't organize after all and he got the ticket for it.. but we didn't sell the ticket to him.. he bought it from another association. Another guy called and asked about the event on friday and wanted to know if there is a guarantee that he gets a girl if he pays 35.... ööö no! Weird people....

Juhannus

After all I got nice party for Juhannus. I have forgot we had our agency’s birthday on Friday and we threw a party! There was slam artist, some guy who was playing trumpet, and good music and food. We had bartenders and such.  I didn’t know what was slam artist before but he is kind a like poet, but in French people’s mind it is not the same… Unfortunately Kathleen and Denis left pretty early, but I stayed with Melica and Gregory until 23.00. It was funny too see my boss dancing with everyone and being so excited!

On Saturday my neighbor took me to this bbq party at the beach near Sainte-Anne. The party was full of guys and I was the only girl… but fortunately one other woman came bit later. The guys were old army friends so you can imagine the topics of discussion. But they were really cool and I had nice time eating good food, drinking despe and swimming. It is still so irritating because I can’t understand the jokes in French, someone always have to explain me…. It was so funny to see how much pictures these guys take… they are like finnish girls taking pictures and videos all the time for the FB. It was super irritating try to eat when someone is taking pics all the time…
In the evening we went to this other party near St. Francois with my neighbor. It was zouklove party.. plaaaah…. Well we danced little bit and drank despe…. We left after while and met two other his friends and asked if they know were would be a party with better music.. but everybody were in fullmoon party. The entrance fee was 20e for the fullmoon party and it was already late when we realized that it was the night for that party… so we didn’t go.. maybe next month… Finally we just decided to go home.
On Sunday I went to the nearest beach I have here. There was beachsoccer competition going on so there was music playing and a lot of people. But after laying in sun for 1 hour it started to rain like crazy and I decided to leave.

Here in Moule there is actually happening a lot during this month, a lot of different competitions and happenings, it is cool!

People

Sandra have been sick, Katleen is still sick, and I feel like I am going to get flu..... We have some virus going around here at work..which sucks..
I miss Katleen.. it is boring to sit alone in "our office".
We got one new employee and one new inter. Denis is our new graphic designer and Myriam is doing her 10 days internship with us.

Yesterday I got funny surprise. I asked my neighbour if he knows anyone who does waxing in Le Moule because it seems to be hard to find to do that in Le Moule. So yesterday evening he appears to my door and asks me if the lady who does waxing can come in! :D That was way too random! That would not in a million years happen in Finland! But it was pretty cool to have someone to come to your house and do beauty treatments to you.

I don't know what I gona do on Juhannus (mid-summer)... I hope I will figure out something fun... People here don't really celebrate mid-summer. In France they have this music festival, but it is not in Guadeloupe.

Third Picture: Sweet pastry, my neighbour brought that for me few days a go and told me his mama made it. It is traditional Martiniquen pastry called Butter bread.

Concert, Le Soufrière and something else

We got to the concert! JEIJ! There was no problem to get gas…. Before the concert we found this amazing food truck. Where they sold crepes. I took ham and cheese and Maija took chicken, the crepes were awesome! If I ever see that food truck anywhere again I definitely gona buy some more! Some old folks bought us planteur and that was amazing too! Made from real passion fruit juice!
The concert was interesting, we missed too first artist since it we were hanging out at the crepes truck, but we saw Aidonia. The concert was ok…. But hmmm.. compared to Antigua there wasn’t as much people and well the artists weren’t so interesting.. I hope here is gona be more concerts but maybe with some well -known dancehall artists.

On Saturday we took a walk to the top of the volcano on Basse-Terre, that was long and hard walk.. my legs are still killing me… But it was really interesting and beautiful over there and I felt I accomplished something. At same time there was volcano run going on so the route was full of people running. Crazy people! I went to swimming in this one waterfall, the water was cold but it felt goof after while! In the evening we ate in nice indian restaurant in the Le Moule and after tried to find the club in Le Moule and we did… but the entry was 20e…. I’m not gona pay that much money to get in a club…That is redicilous..

On Sunday we tried to visit this sugar factory but the train, which would have took us through the fields wasn’t working, so we didn’t take the tour. Instead we went to the beach close to Le Moule. It was relaxing, lovely wind, people having picnics and playing congos. On the way to the beach we saw this huge bulls, I have never seen so big bulls in my life. Few guys were setting them ready to pull the carriage and we went closer to look.  They almost hit our car… :D Unfortunately I didn’t get good picture…

Maija is leaving Guadeloupe soon… :( With who I  gona adventure through the island now…

First Picture: The whole route to the top of the volcano was mostly worst than that..

Second Picture: Me and Maija at the top!

Marie Galante and something else

The trip to Marie Galante was great. Marie Galante is a small island next to Guadeloupe. It is safer compared to Guadeloupe since Maija says she can go for run after the sunset. I wouldn’t do that here in Le Moule… I stayed with Maija and together with one French girl we three drove through the island. I went to kayaking to mangogrove forest with Maija and saw small tortues. We visited few beaches and tried to find caves. The rum distilleries were the best! Here you can buy tum in all the different flavours like coffee, chocolate, coconut, passion and many other! Yummi! The beaches of Marie Galante are pretty, but no comparison for Antiguan beaches.

La Plage du Mystiques is the prettiest one and there is no mosquitoes..
The weirdest night so I spent here was with Maija and her friend and friends brother. We went to karaoke bar/restaurant full of kids and listened karaoke… yeah that wasn’t really my thing……. Maija wasn’t either so excited.. kids + bad singing is never good combination.. well for Maijas friend it is nice evening out… The second night we tried to find someone place to go party but… they told us it is low season so nothing really happens…. Plaaah… You can buy the best passion orange juice from Marie Galante!

Like I have said before people here are nice! I have awesome neighbour who have been helping me with many stuff here. He called his friend to fix my shower to get warm water and gave me lift from Pointe á Pitre back to Le Moule after I returned from Marie Galante.. He also takes me to buying food with his cars and tells me what things I should taste here and brings me sometimes some local dishes.

I found this event in facebook advertising the concert of Aidonia at Guadeloupe. My neighbor was telling me about some concert but he didn’t remember, who, when, or where, but I guess it is that one! My workmates help me to find the place where they sell tickets for the concert and I bought tickets for me and Maija. I can’t wait! It’s gona be fun!

Work is been nice. I have been contacting people for different events and I need to do facebook page for this one event.
My workmates are crazy! :D  But they make my days so much better here and It would be super boring without them! Today we were dancing and braiding hair.. but we did work in the morning.. :D

Work Work..

On the second day at work I was looking for companies in Guadeloupe, which might like to give discount to elderly people We have this event for elderly people and part of the event we are making this discount card for them.

On the third day I was looking for designers contact details and contacting them for this Salon International Design & Creatureus de Guadeloupe. I send few emails and searched the companies to do the discount too. I got my own table! Jeij!

At home stove works, (the gas wasn't on, surprise surprise) and my tv works. The this really nice tv repair guy came to fix it and after that let me use his internet for while. :)
The problems which I still have are that I am not enough strong to put the cables together for washing my clothes.... i don't know what to do.. and I don't have WiFi here, which is super booring and I feel lonely.. plaaah... I have to call my landlord tomorrow and ask help with the washing machine and ask about the WiFi AGAIN...

I talked with my boss' daugher and son today on the phone :D The daughter told me that she gona call me again later. She was in exchange in Finland.

Many people here have a lot of tattoos and piercing.. many guys have their nose and tongue pierced... which I find really feminin... weird..

I am probably going to Marie Galante for the weekend to see the finnish woman over there. :) I need to still check if I should take the ferry from Pointe à Pitre or St. Francois... which is cheaper when including buss tickets. I need to go to tourist office tomorrow..

Yesterday there was market day in Le Moule, I bought cheap veggies and fruits. I bought lychees, which I have never tasted before :D (or probably in Antigua but they looked different) I bought also awesome passionfruit juice!! hmhmmm!

Today is the first time I actually miss my friends and family... it is booring to live alone abroad.... At least that what I have learned..
